What is Thermal Insulation Decorative Board?

Thermal insulation decorative board is a prefabricated building exterior wall panel that combines insulation layer and decorative surface layer in the factory. The insulation core material and decorative panel are laminated on the factory production line.

On-site installation only requires fixing, without the need for layered construction like traditional exterior walls — first insulation layer, then plastering, then paint or tiles.

The board comes out of the factory with complete insulation and decoration functions, requiring only dry installation on site.

Recommended insulation layer thickness ranges for thermal insulation decorative boards in different climate zones:

Severe Cold Regions (Winter temperature below -15°C): EPS/XPS insulation thickness 60 – 100mm, rock wool insulation 50 – 80mm, focusing on meeting building energy saving standard of 75%.

Cold Regions (Winter temperature -15°C ~ 0°C): EPS thickness 40 – 70mm, rock wool thickness 30 – 60mm, comprehensive energy saving rate up to 65%.

Hot Summer & Cold Winter Regions (Yangtze River Basin): EPS thickness 30 – 50mm, balancing summer heat insulation and winter heat retention, core material thermal conductivity recommended ≤ 0.030 W/(m·K).

Hot Summer & Warm Winter Regions (South China): EPS thickness 20 – 30mm meets basic energy saving requirements, focusing on reflective insulation and waterproof moisture-proof performance.

Comparison with Thin Plastering System

The thin plastering exterior wall insulation system is widely used in China, but has two prominent problems: first, construction quality heavily depends on worker skills — the same materials produce different results at different sites; second, high later maintenance costs — the thin plastering system is prone to surface layer cracking and rainwater penetration after 5 – 8 years of use.

Thermal insulation decorative board adopts factory prefabrication and on-site assembly technology, with strong quality control, and individual damaged panels can be replaced independently without large-area removal and rework.

Q1: Can thermal insulation decorative board be adapted to curved walls?

A1: Standard panels are flat and suitable for flat walls. Curved walls require custom curved panels or small-size flat panel splicing. It is recommended to communicate with the Jiesen technical team during the design phase.

A2: Depending on the core material and surface configuration, the design service life is between 15 – 25 years. The fluorocarbon paint surface configuration has the longest service life.
